R-6 Smartglasses System Update Procedure

Instructions for R-6 builds #235 or above:

Note 1: If you are unsure of your glasses’ build number follow the instructions below:

  • Click Menu (center button) on right earhorn and tap the cog icon on far left
  • Click System Settings
  • Scroll to the bottom and click About Glasses
  • Scroll down to Build Number. You should see a code like this: full-r6-userdebug 4.2.2. JDQ39 xxxtest- The xxx in the code is your build number. 

Note 2: Connect to a stable WiFi Access point before updating(for information on connecting to WIFI, click here:).

Note 3: If available, connect to a Bluetooth™ keyboard to easily provide developer account details (for info on pairing to Bluetooth™, click here).

Procedure to update "System Update" app to latest version:

  1. From the Home Page, click the App Center app and select the latest System Update version available.

Over The Air (OTA) System update procedure:

Note 1: Always connect the glasses to a power source before starting the system update.

  1. Launch System Update app (You can find System Update in the All Apps area)
  2. Click Check now. Download will initiate newer software versions are available (Time taken to download depends on WiFi connectivity).
  3. When download is complete, Update button will be available on the same page. You can update immediately or later.
  4. If update is selected, device shuts down and goes into recovery mode. An android icon appears with the status update percentage and, after 2-3 minutes, the device boots up.
  5. After a successful system update, an Update Done message pops up.
  6. If the device fails to update, you can retry the update by beginning with step 1.

Procedure to update system to latest version:

  1. Click the Menu Key followed by the cog icon and select System Settings.
  2. Under the “Person” section, click “Security.”
  3. Check "Unknown sources" box and click "OK" when the warning appears. 
  4. On the home page, launch the “App Center.”
  5. Long press Menu key, select cursor icon on right, and click "Cursor" from control panel.
  6. In App Center, provide ODG developer user name and password.
  7. Select the agreement check box and log in. (If login information is entered incorrectly, sometimes app center cache must be cleared before reentering login info. For more information on clearing caches click here).
  1. Once logged into the application Center, scroll down the page and click "Download System Updater." This will download the latest version of the system update.
  2. Install the Downloaded app. (To see the download progress, click menu key, then the cog icon. Then select notifications to find the downloaded app)
