Alternative Operating / Developer Modes

The ODG smartglasses allow developers to access various modes to aid their ability to develop applications for this new technology.  Users, generally, have no use for these modes. 

To gain access to these different modes the user will need to preform a sequence of button tasks.  While rare, it is possible that you may find yourself in one of these modes; preventing you from a normal boot-up of the smartglasses.

In this event follow the below instructions to exit and re-boot the device.

 

1. Fastboot Mode

Symptom:

The USB Signal will remain in the center of the display.

How to Exit:

Press and hold the Power Button for >15 seconds.

Alternative Steps:

While plugged into the wall using the ODG certified USB Power Adapter, press and hold the Power Button for >45 seconds (full reset).

 

2. Android Recovery Console

Symptom:

The Android System Recovery Mode displays instructions and menu options in the display. 

How to Exit:

While in this Mode the Optical Navigator (track pad) the Volume +, and the Volume -buttons will allow you to scroll through the menu options.  Select Reboot System by highlighting the selection and then pressing the Power Button.

Alternative Steps:

While plugged into the wall using the ODG certified USB Power Adapter, press and hold the Power Button for >45 seconds (full reset).

 

3. QFIL Mode

Symptom:

While in QFIL Mode the ODG smartglasses will continue to vibrate.

How to Exit:

1. Plug your ODG smartglasses into the wall power outlet using the ODG certified USB Power Supply.

2. While plugged in, press and hold the Power Button and the Volume Down Button (Closest to the Power Button) for >15 seconds. 

a. This will force the smartglasses out of QFIL Mode and into Fastboot Mode (an additional developers access mode).

3. Once in Fastboot Mode the glasses will stop vibrating and the USB symbol will remain in the display.

4. Press and hold the Power Button for >15 seconds to exit Fastboot Mode and power down the device.

5. Press the Power Button and the ODG smartglasses will reboot normally.

Alternative Steps:

In addition to the above steps to exit from QFIL Mode, press and hold down the power button for >45 seconds, producing a hard reset.  Ensure you remain plugged into a power outlet using the ODG certified USB Power Supply.

Note:

Do not plug the smartglasses into your computer or a non-certified USB Power Supply while attempting to exit QFIL Mode.

 

Instructions on Entering these Modes is restricted to certified members of the ODG Developer program.
